RCMP in Yellowknife have located a missing 17-year-old boy.

Spencer Lockhart had been reported missing on Sunday evening after leaving Stanton Territorial Hospital.

As is their policy, RCMP have not said where he was located nor when.

They stated in a news release just before 5:00 p.m. Tuesday that he had been found.

CKLB had informed police earlier in the day that we had received credible information that he had been located but police insisted he was still considered missing.

“RCMP were in contact with the family.   In any missing persons case, the person remains missing until the RCMP are able to positively identify the person first hand,” stated civilian RCMP spokesperson Marie York-Condon. “This allows police to confirm identity and the status of the person (safe, requires further assistance, etc.). Once this has been completed, RCMP can then advise media and public that the person has been located.”
