Yellowknife RCMP used a Taser Saturday afternoon as they took two males into custody following an altercation downtown.
Police have not said how many people were Tasered or why they were Tasered.
Mounties say nobody has been charged – it’s not clear if the males remain in custody.
In a news release, Mounties state that they responded to a report of an altercations at about 3:00 in the afternoon in the 50-50 lot at the corner of Franklin Avenue and Range Street.
RCMP state citizens may have witnessed the incident in the high population density area and may have recorded it.
Police are asking for any witnesses or any one with video footage to call or attend the Yellowknife Detachment to assist with the investigation.
You can also call Crime Stoppers to anonymously report anything you might have seen.
It’s the second major police incident downtown in less than a week.
Last Tuesday Mounties cordoned off streets as they investigated after a man and a woman were taken to hospital after they were attacked.
RCMP took one man into custody at the time but have never identified him or said what, if anything he is charged with.
As is their policy, they have never updated the condition of the victims.
The incidents come as some members of the public have complained to city council and the media that the area around the sobering centre has become unsafe due to alcohol consumption and fights.
