A Yellowknife man wanted by police is to appear in court Monday after he allegedly rammed two RCMP vehicles as officers tried to arrest him.

According to a news release from the Mounties, following a tip from a citizen, 38-year-old Gary Taylor was spotted in a pick-up truck with other occupants last Wednesday afternoon at an apartment building on School Draw Avenue.

Police state that he tried to evade capture by deliberately ramming the truck into two police vehicles.

Two officers received minor injuries.

Taylor is charged with assaulting police, dangerous and disqualified driving, resisting arrest, failure to comply with a court order and mischief over $5,000.

Mounties had issued an arrest warrant for him earlier this month on charges including resisting arrest, fleeing from police in a vehicle and failure to attend court.

RCMP say another man, Kiet Thai, 41, of Yellowknife was also arrested at the scene on an outstanding warrant.

The other occupants of the vehicle were arrested but later released without being charged.

Taylor and Thai are both being held in custody ahead of court appearances Monday.
