Six Stranded Boaters Rescued

Yellowknife RCMP respond to stranded boaters on Prosperous Lake near Tartan Rapids.

A press release issued by the RCMP says Mounties rescued six boaters that required assistance when their boats became stalled while they were out on the water last Tuesday, September 18 after 10:30pm.

RCMP officers with the assistance from Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary volunteers located the boaters and safely transported them to shore by Wednesday morning.

RCMP say the boaters did not sustain any injuries, but were ill prepared for the water conditions and temperature.

Individuals planning to spend time on the land or water are asked to be properly prepared and dressed according for the conditions.
