RCMP probe sudden death in Inuvik

RCMP in Inuvik are investigating a sudden death that was reported to them this past Saturday.

According to a news release from the Mounties, they were called about 9:00 that night about a body that had been located near Big Lake, just outside the community.

Police attended the scene and found a deceased male on a trail in the area.

NWT RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit and Forensic Identification Services have travelled to Inuvik to assist in the investigation.

The NWT Coroner’s office is also involved.

Mounties state that the identification of the deceased has not yet been confirmed.

They say they are aware that there is some speculation as to who the man was – but add they are not releasing any other information at this time.

Last week, Inuvik RCMP put out a news release asking for the public’s help in locating 35-year-old Richard Binder Jr.

He was wanted for assault causing bodily harm, resisting arrest and breaching court conditions.
