One male recovering, another charged in alleged Hay River stabbing

One male is recovering from serious but non-life threating wounds while another is in custody after an alleged stabbing in Hay River.

According to an RCMP news release, officers responded just after 8:00 Saturday morning to a report of a stabbing at a home on the K’atl’odeeche First Nation.

Mounties state that it is alleged that a man wounded a second male, who was then transported to the Hay River Regional Health Centre.

Police state that the victim was then transferred to Stanton Territorial Hospital in Yellowknife for further medical treatment of serious but not life-threatening injuries.

RCMP state that with the help of their police dog services, officers searched for and located a suspect on the reserve and took him into custody later on Saturday.

Donald Alexander Jensen, 23, of Hay River, has been charged with one count of aggravated assault.

Mounties say they are not looking for any other suspects at this time but continue to investigate.
