Missing and Murdered Women And Girls Honoured At Sisters In Spirit Gathering

Sisters In Spirit Gathering held at the Native Women Association's office in downtown Yellowknife.

They may be missing or have passed on- but they will not be forgotten.

The Native Women’s Association of the NWT hosted the Sisters in Spirit Gathering yesterday at its office in downtown Yellowknife.

The event paid tribute to all of the missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls.

Maggie Mercredi, who is an advocate for Indigenous rights says it was important for her to show support for families who have been traumatized by violence.

Mercredi says that its up to everyone to take a stand and show that they value Indigenous women and girls in order to help them live healthier lives.

This was the 13th year for the Sisters in Spirit vigil in Canada.
