A two-minute delay saw the next chair of the Sahtu Secretariat get acclaimed last evening in Tulita.

The delay in nomination papers submitted by former Deline Chief Raymond Tutcho cost him the job, giving Charles McNeely the win. The deadline was set to 5pm to have all applications submitted. Raymond Tutcho was two minutes late and his application for Chair was not considered.

Tutcho cites being busy with reports at the Assembly, as the reason he was late for the application deadline.

Meanwhile McNeely says that he is very happy and was surprised that more candidates did not choose to run for the position.

McNeely had been the interim Chair after the former Sahtu Secretariat Chair Ethel Blondin-Andrew resigned after 9 years.

Blondin-Andrew says she had a great working relationship with McNeely and as a lot of faith the he will do a good job as her successor.
