Schools across the NWT are receiving the funding required to implement junior kindergarten. Finance minister Robert C. McLeod made the announcement today during the 2017-2018 budget proposal at the legislative assembly.
The GNWT is proposing $1.5 million towards junior kindergarten for the 2017-18 school year. The budget also commits to fully fund junior kindergarten with $2.7 million by 2020.
The Finance minister has no plans to persuade families concerned with the competition of headstart.

Other highlights in the budget proposal include $500,000 towards senior home care and $750,000 for homelessness programs.
