The Board of Directors of the Fort Norman Metis Community has announced that a payment of $1,172.68 will be made available to each of the 376 members of the FNMC starting Friday
According to a news release from the Tulita-based organization – the payments are from the Metis community members share of income from the Sahtu Trust for the 2017 fiscal year.
The share of the income comes from a formula entrenched in FNMC bylaws.
In the past – payments were either made or not made at the discretion of the board of directors.
Metis community president Rick Hardy says the payments represent the continuing evolution of the community and its members – making life just a little easier for them.
The organization also helps its members with elder assistance, prizes and scholarships for high school students, bereavement assistance and other programs.
Anyone needing help with the form required to access the payment can contact Candice Fraser at membership@fnmlc.ca.
