The chief coroner of the Northwest Territories has released the name of a man killed in a snowmobile crash northeast of Yellowknife over the weekend.
He has been identified as Jeffrey Lindsay, 46, of Yellowknife.
According to RCMP, Lindsay was killed from injuries sustained when his machine hit a snow-covered rock near Reid Lake out the Ingraham Trail on Saturday night.
Mounties say he was the only person riding the snowmobile at the time.
Police say another snowmobiler came upon the crash site and called police before trying in vain to save the man’s life.
Officials say he was deceased before arriving at Stanton Territorial Hospital.
It’s not clear whether Lindsay was wearing a helmet.
His body has been sent to Edmonton for an autopsy to try to determine a cause of death.
CKLB extends condolences to Lindsay’s family and friends.
