An Edmonton man is charged with possession of the proceeds of crime after almost $70,000 was seized in a raid in Inuvik.

According to a news release from the RCMP, Ali Omar, 24, was arrested and charged after officers executed a search warrant at a location in the community last Saturday.

They seized the cash, drug paraphernalia, bear spray and a knife.

Police aren’t saying why they believe the money is the proceeds of crime.

Omar is being held in custody and is to appear in Yellowknife Court on Thursday.

Mounties state that they are not seeking any other suspects in relation to this investigation.
