A new vehicle pull-out has opened adjacent to the Dettah ice road.

According to the territorial government, the new pull-out is located about half way along the 6.3 kilometre ice road between Yellowknife and Dettah.

The NWT’s Department of Infrastructure, which oversees roads in the territory, states that residents and tourists will benefit from the pull-out by having the option of safely stopping to enjoy winter activities, such as aurora viewing.

The government states that due to weight restrictions, a maximum of four buses are permitted to use the pull-out at any one time.

There are no restrictions on the number of small vehicles that can use the designated pull-out area.

Drivers are asked to obey the posted signs and dispose of any litter using the garbage bin at the pull-out.
