The community of Behchoko celebrates the grand opening of a six-bay water and sewer truck garage.

NWT Michael McLeod says the opening of a new water and sewer truck garage will be used to provide proper maintenance and security for vehicles to distribute clean water to residents of Behchoko.

This is an extension to their other facility. It will help with storage of their vehicles, secure their vehicles. These are vehicles that they use to distribute clean water. It’s an upgrade that is certainly essential to the community.

The entire project cost over $1.5 million to complete.

It’s a nice new modern, public infrastructure. It’s a good garage and will certainly support Behchoko for many years.

The Federal government contributed over 1 million through the Small Communities Fund. An additional three hundred and eighty thousand dollars was provided by the community of Behchoko.

The project will keep the water clean for residents living in the Behchoko community.
