Abandoned House Burns Down in Yellowknife

An investigation into a downtown Yellowknife fire is ongoing after a blaze early Monday morning.

A building at the corner of 53rd street and Franklin avenue can be seen completely engulfed in flames in a live video posted by a Yellowknife resident just after one a.m.

Firefighters left the scene just before five a.m.

The building is said to have been abandoned for several years after being first built in 1946.

At this time the cause of the blaze is unknown.

The office of the Fire Marshall is leading the investigation with assistance from Yellowknife RCMP.
