Fort Smith RCMP has requested the public’s help after a man pointed a firearm at three people over the weekend.

On September 19th, at approximately 11 pm, RCMP responded to a report that a male had pointed a firearm at someone near the Aurora College running track, stated a release.

The male victim was able to safely leave the area and called police, who attended the location.

Upon their arrival, RCMP located a second male victim who had a firearm pointed at them, by a suspect with same description. The suspect had departed the area prior to police attendance.

Shortly after, at approximately 11:34 pm, a female victim reported to the Fort Smith RCMP that she had been chased by what appeared to be the same suspect, and that a firearm had been pointed at her.

Fort Smith RCMP is investigating these incidents and is asking for public assistance in locating the suspect.

The suspect is described as:

  • Having white or light brown skin;
  • Approximately 25 to 30 years old;
  • Shorter, approximately 1.72 metres (5’8”);
  • With a slim build;
  • Long, shoulder length dark brown or black hair, possibly wavy or curly; and
  • Wearing a red and grey windbreaker jacket and black track pants with a single white stripe down each leg.

A community portal link has been created by the Fort Smith RCMP for anyone with CCTV or other video footage of the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Fort Smith RCMP at 867-872-1111 or Crime Stoppers at p3tips.com.

Of course, the South Slave Region community is very sensitive to reports of a gun being pointed after the shooting in late August that sent three people to hoispital, one with “life-altering injuries.”
