Over a dozen charges issued in Fort Good Hope firearm incident
Police were called after a gun was fired inside an occupied home, though nobody was injured
One man is in custody after Fort Good Hope RCMP received a report of a gun being fired at an occupied local residence.
The incident occurred on August 30th. Around 1:24am, local officers received a call stating that multiple shots had been fired inside a local residence that was occupied by several people, including three children. No injuries were reported.
Police arrived at the scene quickly, where they were able to locate the suspect at a different residence nearby. The suspect was arrested without incident.
The police investigation determined that this incident was isolated, and was caused by a prior altercation between the suspect and one of the people at the residence.
38-year-old Lindsey McNeely from Fort Good Hope has received the following charges:
- Assault
- Assault with a Weapon
- Careless use of a Firearm
- Discharging a firearm while being reckless
- Two counts of discharging a firearm with intent
- Three counts of failure to comply with a release order
- Mischief to property over $5,000
- Pointing a firearm
- Possession of a firearm while knowing possession is unauthorized
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Using a firearm in the commission of an offence, and
- Uttering threats against a person
When he was arrested, McNeely was already out on bail, and was the subject of certain release conditions. He has made an appearance in court, and has been returned to police custody.
