Steep fall from embankment leaves man with minor injuries

The person had been socializing along a trail and bench area when he went over the edge, say witnesses

At approximately 4:30 pm on June 1st, the Yellowknife Fire Division responded to reports of an individual who had fallen down a steep embankment near Sikyea Tili/Otto Drive at the entrance to Ndilǫ.

Responders arrived on scene within 10 minutes of receiving the call and located the individual.

Upon assessment, the individual was found to have sustained only minor injuries.

As a precautionary measure, the individual was transported to Stanton Territorial Hospital.

The Yellowknife Fire Division reminds residents to exercise caution and remain aware of their surroundings when walking near steep embankments and elevated terrain.

A witness told CKLB the man had been socializing with a group of others when he fell over the side.
