Yellowknife woman arrested after tour bus theft
The suspect stole the bus while it was unattended at a gas station, but was arrested only an hour later
A Yellowknife resident has been arrested after they attempted to steal a tour bus.
The incident was reported around 1:15am on Saturday, March 7th. Officers were informed that a tour bus had been briefly left unattended at a gas station, where it was then stolen.
Officers were able to find the vehicle less than an hour later in a parking lot. The police were able to surround the vehicle, where it attempted to escape by backing into one of the cruisers before coming to a stop. The driver was then arrested without further incident.
At the time of the arrest, 39-year-old Kayla Crozier was showing signs of drug use. She was taken to the hospital where blood samples were obtained for further inspection.
Crozier has been charged with:
- Theft of a motor vehicle
- Mischief under $5,000
- Operation of a conveyance while impaired by drugs, and
- Operation of a vehicle with a suspended license.
The suspect was held for a bail hearing and has been returned to custody. No injuries were reported in this incident.
