B.C. teen on bail busted for trafficking in Fort McPherson

The young man had allegedly been selling drugs in the community, and was caught with over $10,000 in cash

A young man from British Columbia has been arrested in Fort McPherson for dealing drugs in the community.

Local officers were informed on September 26th that drugs were being sold somewhere within the community. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the suspect attempting to escape through a window.

The suspect is a 16-year-old male from B.C., and was arrested on site. Police obtained a search warrant to investigate the rest of the residence, and found around 20 grams of suspected cocaine, and more than $10,000 in cash.

The youth has been charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and
  • Failure to comply with release order conditions.

When he was arrested, the suspect was already under bail conditions after several previous offences involving firearms. He was briefly held for a bail hearing, and has since been released by a judge on the condition that he return to B.C.

The fort McPherson RCMP have expressed their thanks to all members of the public who assisted in this matter.
