Human remains found in Fort McPherson cabin fire
RCMP say investigation underway with Coroner’s Service and Fire Marshal
Fort McPherson RCMP say they are investigating after human remains were found in the wreckage of a cabin fire.
Police said they received a report from a person who had travelled upriver to check on a family member they had not heard from in several days.
“Upon arriving at the cabin, it was found to have burned. Human remains were located inside the wreckage,” RCMP stated in a Friday news release.
Officers remain on scene, and the investigation is underway in partnership with the NWT Coroner’s Service and Office of the Fire Marshal.
Investigative support is being provided by G Division’s Forensic Identification Service and Major Crimes Unit.
