A man charged with cocaine-related crimes on June 20th in Fort Simpson was picked up again on July 5th for more alleged drug offences in the community.

Two people are facing charges after Fort Simpson RCMP seized a quantity of illegal drugs and alcohol while conducting a foot patrol on a trail alongside the Mackenzie River, stated a Thursday release.

At approximately 11pm, on July 5th, Mounties were patrolling the riverbank when they discovered a group of four people they claim were consuming alcohol in a public place.

Three opened bottles of liquor were disposed of immediately and an additional eight 20-ounce bottles of vodka and six beers were seized.

While searching a bag belonging to a female suspect, RCMP members located two grams of crack cocaine.

During the arrest, police allege the female suspect attempted to give an item to a male.

Police confronted the male suspect, who surrendered a 23-gram rock of crack cocaine.

Twenty-two-year-old Tamara Emily Lennie, of Fort Simpson and 43-year-old Adrian Tambour, of Kátł’odeeche First Nation, have each been charged with: One count of possession, and two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

They both face charges under the Liquor Act for unlawfully consuming liquor in public and having liquor for sale.

Additionally, Tambour has been charged with failure to comply with conditions of a release order.

Police stated it was part of an ongoing investigation under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
