Fort Smith Protective Services issued a warning early this morning for residents to avoid the area of Field Street and Cassette Crescent after another violent incident in the border community involving gunplay and a fire.
Fort Smith RCMP on Friday afternoon stated the incident was at 4:28 a.m. with the report of a firearm discharge and a house fire on Field Street.
Officers attended the scene and were told two males were seen fleeing the scene in a Hyundai sedan driven by a third person.
The fire fully engulfed the house, which is deemed total loss.
No injuries were reported as a result of this fire.

Meanwhile, you’ll recall that shortly after 5 a.m. on February 15th, RCMP received a report that several shots had been fired from a vehicle into a residence on Field Street.

The vehicle fled the scene immediately after the shots were fired.
Several minutes later, officers were dispatched to a vehicle on fire at the intersection of Klondike Avenue and Raven Street.
No injuries were reported and police said it was linked to the local drug trade.
