Women arrested after serious stabbing in Fort Good Hope

Police believe there is no risk to the general public, as the victim and suspect are known to each other

A Fort Good Hope woman is in custody and a victim in hospital after a stabbing on Friday.

Shortly after 7 p.m. on February 28th, the RCMP detachment received a report that a person had been stabbed several times, stated a release.

The victim received serious injuries and was subsequently flown out of the community for emergency medical treatment.

A suspect was quickly identified and arrested without incident.

The victim and suspect are known to each other and police do not believe there is a risk to the general public.

Police cited privacy reasons in not releasing the sex of the victim, or the nature of the relationship between the two people.

As part of the investigation, a search warrant was obtained and executed on a residence in the community believed to be the location of the offence.

Police confirmed a suspected weapon was recovered.

A 27-year-old woman was charged with aggravated assault and was later conditionally released from custody to appear in court on June 2nd.
