Should the NWT ditch time change? The GNWT wants to know

You know the old sayings to remember time change: spring forward and fall back. Well now the territorial government is considering springing to nowhere and falling… in place? Ok, the analogy doesn’t totally work, but the important thing is the government is considering whether to remove time change.

NWT residents can have their say in a new short online survey. The survey asks whether residents support removing time change, whether they prefer Mountain Standard Time or Mountain Daylight Saving Time, and whether they think it’s important to keep the same time as Alberta. The GNWT has also put together maps comparing the changes.

The U.S. Senate recently voted unanimously to pass a bill that could lead to to the removal of time change next year.

Residents can answer the survey online, or email feedback at haveyoursaydoj@gov.nt.ca, or print out the survey and mail it to the Department of Justice.

The survey is open until May 16.

The GNWT says it will make a decision later this year.
