One person charged after ‘serious assault’ at residence on Dettah access road

Andrew Lafferty, 42, is facing charges of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon, following an incident near Dettah, according to RCMP.

Police say they received a call about a “serious assault” that happened at a residence on the Dettah access road on Wednesday, Mar. 2.

“Yellowknife RCMP attended and located a 52 year-old man suffering from serious injuries,” reads a news release.

Police did not specify the type of injuries, but said the victim went to Stanton hospital before being transferred to Edmonton.

Lafferty’s first court appearance is Thursday, Mar. 3.

Police say there is an ongoing investigation into the alleged assault.
