WSCC files 11 charges against NTPC related to worker death

An accident at NTPC's Jackfish generating facility in Yellowknife sent one employee to Stanton Territorial Hospital on March 5, 2021. They passed away from the injuries.

The Northwest Territories Power Corporation (NTPC) is facing 11 charges related to the death of an employee last March.

On Mar. 5, 2021, an ice buildup over a door at the Jackfish power plant fell and hit a worker, who then died of the injuries.

The charges allege NTPC failed to safely maintain the facility, failed to ensure the health and safety of everyone at the facility, and failed to correct unsafe working conditions, among others.

The first court appearance will be on Mar. 29 in Yellowknife.
