Tu Nedhé-Wiilideh MLA Steve Norn tried resigning on Tuesday at the Legislative Assembly.

Norn said he would resign while MLAs were debating a motion to remove him from his seat in the legislature; he said he would resign rather than make his colleagues vote him out.

Norn appeared visibly upset and flustered as he said goodbye to a few colleagues before leaving.

Speaker Frederick Blake Jr. called for a quick break to confirm Norn said he would resign. However, after the break, Blake said the motion had to be carried out entirely and would not accept the resignation.

By then, Norn had left the building.

The remaining MLAs unanimously passed the motion to declare his seat vacant.
