Police in Łutselkʼe say 74-year-old Edward Prince has been found safe.

According to a news release, Prince left for a cabin about 70 kilometres near Basille Bay west of the community and was expected back on Aug. 23.

Community members, Yellowknife search and rescue, and the Coast Guard all participated in the search.

Police say he was found the morning of Aug. 25 on an island about 45 minutes from the community.

“Aside from being hungry and cold, he was in good health and is now returning,” reads a news release.

RCMP is reminding community members looking to travel on the land to share travel plans with others and bring a reliable mode of communication in the event of an emergency.
