29-year-old man found deceased near Behchokǫ̀

A deceased 29-year-old man was found after a search and rescue operation near Behchokǫ̀.

According to an RCMP press release, police received a call around 4:30 p.m. on July 17 that a man had entered the water under the bridge by Frank’s Channel.

Police began searching the shoreline by vehicle and boat while a community volunteer search team also assisted. A helicopter was eventually called in to search from the air.

The man was found deceased on July 18 around midnight.

The identity has not been released and the police said they are assisting the coroner with its investigation into what is considered a presumed drowning.
