Flooding reduces section of Highway 1 to single lane

A part of Highway 1 has been washed out due to flooding.

The section of flooded highway is near kilometre 42, about halfway between Enterprise and the NWT-Alberta border.

A video posted to social media yesterday shows water rushing across a broken section of highway

The Department of Infrastructure installed a temporary bridge to allow traffic.

“The temporary bridge will remain in place until water levels subside and repairs are completed,” Agata Gutkowska, department spokesperson, in an email.

She added the department will share updates on its Twitter page.
