NWT residents wanting to leave the territory via Highway 7 will be allowed to do so twice a week.

The territorial government has updated its travel restrictions to allow residents to leave using schedule exits at 1 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Residents wishing to leave need to email the Government of the Northwest Territories in advance.

Even if leaving via Highway 7, returning residents still need to come back into the territory by Highway 1 or 8 and follow the orders of the chief public health officer, including having a 14-day self-isolation plan.

There is a gate blocking Highway 7 about 10 kilometres from the British Columbia border.
