The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) has extended a thank you to an Alberta company and the federal government for a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) donation.

“We want to thank Suncor and our partners at the Federal Government for coordinating this donation that will support us in delivering high-quality care and services to NWT residents,” NTHSSA said in an email to CKLB Radio.

Suncor Energy sent N95 masks to the NWT last weekend after the federal government identified that communities in Northern Canada were experiencing a shortage. The masks are designed to filter out particles in the air that may carry the COVID-19 virus.

According to the department, the PPE has been added to our health system inventory and will be used to help combat the spread of COVID-19 in the NWT.
