Two people arrested and charged after RCMP drug investigation in Inuvik

Two people have been arrested and charged after RCMP in Inuvik conducted a drug raid at a residence in that community.

According to a news release from the Mounties, a digital scale with suspected crack cocaine residue, cellular devices and a large sum of Canadian currency were seized  during the execution of a search warrant last Friday.

Police say they had received reports of drug activity in the residence and surveillance was conducted.

Inuvik resident Clara Aviugana, 45, is charged with trafficking cocaine.

Moosa Khan, a 19-year-old from Kelowna, B.C., is charged with possession of proceeds of crime over $5000, trafficking cocaine and possession of cocaine.

Khan was in court in Yellowknife Monday.

Aviugana is scheduled to appear in Inuvik Territorial court on November 19.

Police have not made it clear if she is in custody.
