Celebration of life to be held Friday for NWT priest, author and photographer Rene Fumoleau

A celebration of life is to be held Friday afternoon for reknowned Northwest Territrories priest, author and photographer Rene Fumoleau.

Its being held at the Willideh Site on the Yellowknife River out the Ingraham Trail.

Fumoleau died at Avens Manor in Yellowknife on August 6th – his 93rd birthday.

Originally from France, Fumoleau is described as an outspoken advocate for the Dene people and worked in many Northern communities during his time in the territory.

Padre Jim Lynn, from Dettah, says Fumoueau will be remembered as a “beautiful soul who gave up himself to everyone.”

The celebration is to begin at 2:00 pm.

If it’s raining, the event will be moved to the Chief Drygeese Centre in Dettah.
