Councillor Proposes Web Page Dedicated to Bylaw Investigation

As the City of Yellowknife continues it’s investigation into Manager of Municipal Enforcement Doug Gillard and inappropriate use of security cameras, one Councillor thinks Yellowknife should have a page dedicated to the inquiry.

An inquiry has been underway since January 22nd, and Councillor Adrian Bell thinks a page should be set up containing updates, copies of public meeting minutes and the investigator’s final report.

Bell says this is an issue council isn’t used to handling, and as such they are still learning how to deal with it.

Council and administration try to be transparent but there are certain things like this process fro which we just don’t have much experience, it’s new territory and therefore we don’t really have those transparency mechanisms in place.

Bell thinks a web page of this kind would convey that council “values transparency”.
