Youth arrested in Inuvik armed robbery

Inuvik RCMP have made an arrest in connection with an armed robbery in the community last Tuesday night.

According to a news release from the Mounties, a youth was apprehended on Thursday and charged with robbery.

Police are not saying whether the suspect is from Inuvik, whether they are male or female or how old they are.

Their name cannot be released because of their age.

RCMP say the Corner Store convenience store was held up just before 11pm Tuesday by a person armed with a knife.

Police say the suspect fled with items stolen from the store but no cash.

No one was hurt.

A successful request for public assistance in identifying the suspect was made last Wednesday.

The youth was held in custody awaiting a court appearance.
