Walk For MS Taking Place This Saturday In Yellowknife

The walk for Multiple Sclerosis will take place this Sunday in Yellowknife.

MS Society of Canada Facilitator, Laurie McLean says approximately 40 people living in Yellowknife suffer from MS.

To show support, over 100 participants have already registered to walk and raise funds for those struggling with the auto-immune disease.

Since the walk launched in 2013, nearly $150,000.00 dollars has been raised in Yellowknife. McLean hopes to match the same amount this year.

We’re aiming for $35,000 that’s what we brought in last year.

Funds raised will be used towards developing treatments, research, and programs.

The walk will begin at 10:00am in front of the school gym at Mildred Hall located on 5408 Franklin Avenue.

Participants can choose to either walk 1km or 5km. Both routes will be wheelchair friendly.
