Two Busy Weekends in Yellowknife Wrap Up with end of Super Soccer

NWT Super Soccer has now officially wrapped up with this past weekend seeing high school aged competitors facing off at Yellowknife’s field house and St. Pat’s gym.

The Boys 19 AA division was won by Sir John Franklin, whereas the Girl’s division was won by Paul William Kaeser in Fort Smith. Hay River’s DJSS won the boys 19A division and Coral Harbour wins it for the girls. Sir John and St Pat’s each picked up another two victories in the 15 U categories.

Last weekend’s junior leg saw William MacDonald winning 4 of 6 divisions.

Referee in chief and part organizer Nick Rivet says a stunning amount of volunteers sacrificing their time help to make these weekends run smoothly.

Volunteers from the Northwest Territories Soccer Association, referees giving up their time just to make sure all the games are covered, the scheduling, I don’t even know where to begin when it comes to booking flights and hotels for the schools. Just very time consuming.

Between the two tournaments, around twenty different NWT communities were represented in NWT Super Soccer.

A smaller tournament for grades four and five is taking place this coming weekend.
