The Tibbitt to Contwoyto winter road has come to an end.

The commercial 600 kilometre ice road that links Yellowknife to the three diamond mines closed Wednesday night to traffic.

The last of the transport trucks coming back from the mines rolled into the city on Thursday morning.

Motorists are advised not to use the road, since there is no services along the route. If they chose to, it’s at their own risk.

The longest season for the Tibbitt to Contwoyto road was April 16, back in 2002.
