Three people arrested after bear spray unleashed

A woman has been charged with four offences including assault with a weapon after bear spray was discharged prompting the evacuation of downtown Yellowknife apartment building.

According to an RCMP news release, Mounties arrived at Crestview Manor on 52 Ave. about noon Sunday after a complaint about windows being damaged.

Officers quickly found an empty can of bear spray in front of the building, discovered it had been discharged in the first floor hallway and arrested three people.

According to a news release from the city, five residents were assessed by paramedics after complaining about the effects of the spray.

It is not clear if any of the suspects were treated or whether any of them live in the building.

The fire department ventilated the apartment building which was not damaged.

Thirty-nine year old Brittany Ann Beaulieu is also charged with mischief under $5,000, uttering threats to property and common nuisance.

Police state the two males, who at this point are not charged, are known to them.

The incident remains under investigation.
