The Government of The Northwest Territories To Test Public Alert System

The Government of the Northwest Territories has announced that it will conduct a live test of the NWT public alert system on Wednesday.

A GNWT press release says that NWT Alert Ready is being developed as a protocol designed to inform NWT residents about emergencies taking place in the territory.

The test will allow residents to be aware of how the alert system works when they receive a message on TV, cell phone or radio.

The emergency system is an initiative that is in partnership with all three levels of the Canadian government.

NWT Alert Ready is expected to be complete by 2019.
