Yesterday at the Legislative Assembly, Sahtu MLA Danny McNeely was asking where are the federal funds for the Mackenzie Valley Highway.

“When does the minister expect to have a decision on the bilateral reviews and decision on the application that this government calls a priority for the Mackenzie Valley Extension?” asked McNeely on Thursday.

Infrastructure Minister Wally Schumann who recently met with his federal counterparts says no update is expected until the fall.

“Our understanding is that the Mackenzie Valley Extension application is still there, it’s still frozen until when the federal government figures out what they’re going to do with bilateral agreements with the provinces and territories and how they’re going to roll out more infrastructure money,” Schumann told the assembly yesterday.

Two federal announcements will be made by NWT MP Michael McLeod today in Yellowknife regarding funds for Aboriginal Languages and Aurora College.
