RCMP probe sudden death in Yellowknife

RCMP and the NWT’s Coroner’s Office are investigating a sudden death in Yellowknife.

Chief Coroner Cathy Menard says the body of a 24-year-old woman was discovered Tuesday.

She could not say exactly where the body was found or by whom.

It is believed that it may have been in the J.H. Sissons School neighbourhood, but that has not been confirmed.

Menard says foul play is not suspected at this time.

She adds that the body has been sent to Edmonton for an autopsy to try to determine the cause of death.

It is the second sudden death in the city in the past week.

The body of 51-year-old Ronald Taylor was found a week ago Wednesday in a wooded area on Twin Pine Hill between 44 Street and School Draw.

His death also does not appear to be suspicious.
