RCMP are asking the public to take preventative measures after a number of attempted thefts in the City of Yellowknife.

Yesterday morning around 5AM, RCMP apprehended two suspects in the Niven area.

It appeared that several vehicles had been entered illegally, properties were trespassed and snow machines were tampered with.

One suspect, Jeremy Kuneyuna, has been charged with theft under $5000, trespassing at night, failure to comply with a probation order and motor vehicle theft . Charges are pending for the second person, a 22 year old male, who will face court on March 28th.

RCMP also apprehended a person on the 7th of February in the Borden area. The 22 year old male suspect remains in custody with charges pending, and a court date of February 28th.

RCMP are reminding the public simple precautions like locking your vehicle, not leaving valuable items or money in your car, never leave any keys inside a vehicle and try to park in well lighted areas where possible.
