NWT winter road system almost entirely closed

The Liard River Ice Crossing is now closed to low clearance and two wheel drive vehicles.

The Dettah ice road is also now closed.

And with spring finally around the corner, the Department of Transportation is providing road condition warnings across the NWT.

Highway 7 is expected to close tomorrow, Saturday, April 8th.

The Mackenzie Valley and Trout Lake Winter Roads are closed.

Please be advised that the Tlicho Winter Road will close for the season tomorrow morning (Saturday, April 8th) at 10:00AM. 24 hour traffic is permitted until then.

Access roads to Tsiigehtchic, the Mackenzie River and Peel River are only open to vehicles under sixty four thousand kilograms.

The Dempster highway is closed between Eagle Plains and Fort McPherson due to blowing snow and poor visibility. The rest of the highway is open but keep an eye out for construction spots.

Highway 3 from Behchoko to Yellowknife as well as the ingram trail are slippery.

Highway 5 and highway 6 may have rough conditions along the way.
