Northwest Territories Woman Found Deceased near Merritt, BC

An investigation in Merritt, BC is continuing after the body a woman from the Northwest Territories was located near the Coquihalla Highway.

According to a release from Merritt RCMP, officers responded to a collision on Sunday, and while one of the motorists on scene left his vehicle to stretch his legs he discovered a deceased woman at the side of the road.

The latest RCMP update says the woman is First Nations and twenty seven years old.

It adds that her next of kin had not yet been contacted and as such her identity was not yet being shared, only that she had connections to the South Okanagan area.

Merritt RCMP and the BC Coroner are investigating, and an autopsy is expected to be completed.
