Murder charge laid in Fort Good Hope

Fort Good Hope RCMP have laid a murder charge in relation to the fatal stabbing that happened in the Sahtu community this past Sunday.

Police charged 24 year old Colten McNeely under section 235 of the Criminal Code in Fort Good Hope on Monday. Community members say McNeely turned himself in.

He was then transported and placed in remand in Yellowknife on Monday.

Police say officers with the Northwest Territories RCMP Major Crimes Unit, Forensic Identification Services and Police Dog Services, returned back G-Division headquarters on Tuesday.

McNeely remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Yellowknife Court on Thursday.
