Morel mushrooms continue to attract pickers from across the world to the Northwest Territories.
Morel mushrooms grow well in areas that were burnt in previous years forest fires.
Especially in forests where pine trees grew.
Morels have a honeycomb like surface.
And sell well on the international markets.
Our news reporter Mark Hadlari drove out to a mushroom picking camp just north of Fort Providence, NWT on Highway 3.
Mark spoke to a mushroom buyer who was known in the camp as Jim, as he had his morning coffee by his fire.
Buffalo Chip has produced about 9 thousand pounds of morel mushrooms this summer.
And they are hopeful they can stay there till the middle of July.
