The Montreal International Documentary Festival has made an official apology for showing the film “Of The North” back in 2015.
The film featured racist aboriginal stereotypes with a colonial perspective.
The RIDM had a public discussion with a panel of first nations and Inuits that condemned the film and the decision to screen it at the film festival.
The RIDM understands that it was wrong to present the film and they would like to thank everyone who is working with the festival in order for them to continue making positive changes.
